Holiday Gift Suggestions

Nativity and St. George’s Haiti Committee is once again running their gift card program to provide livestock, school tuition, water purification, medical supplies, etc for our twin parish in Coq Chante.  Cards will be available in the narthex beginning on November 25.  An order form is also available in the December newsletter.

Scrip cards make great Christmas gifts and help our Nativity school.  Scrip is available every Tuesday morning in the school.

Nativity is also offering a poinsettia and handmade wreath sale for the holidays.  Order forms are available in the school office or online through the school website.

Nativity has an opening for a part time (12 hours per week) assistant to the Faith Formation office.  We are seeking a practicing Catholic with a working knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church and an eagerness to learn.  The position requires ample computer skills including social media to collaborate in developing and transmitting various event preview and follow-up communications for families.  Other duties include weekly up-dates to the Faith Formation section of the website and recording of Sacraments in the parish register.  Must be available during the summer months to help manage enrollment and develop group lists for the fall Faith Formation sessions.  References and background check required.  Send resume to Mary Barone, 43 Argyle Place, Orchard Park, New York  14127 before December 12.

Please join Bishop Richard Malone on Saturday, January 13 as we remember the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court abortion decision.  We will pray to make reparation for the millions of unborn children who are victims of abortion, for the women and men involved in an abortion who need healing and reconciliation, and recommit ourselves to end abortion-on-demand in our nation.

The Mass will take place at St. Bernadette, 5930 South Abbott Road in Orchard Park at 5pm.  For more information, please contact the Pro-Life Office at 847-2205.  Visit the website at

St. Vincent de Paul is always in need of volunteers who can visit clients in Buffalo and Orchard Park to determine their needs.

Nativity’s SVDP conference has teamed with Habitat for Humanity to help build and restore houses in our area.  Volunteers are always needed.  The next date is December 16 from 9am-3pm.

Nativity’s St. Vincent de Paul Conference is collecting Coats for Kids.  Collections barrels will be available in the narthex.  New and used coats in good condition, as well as gloves, sweaters and scarfs are needed.

If you can help with any of these ministries, please call Dennis at 308-7858 for more information.

  St. Gianna Molla Pregnancy Outreach

The Gianna Molla Pregnancy Center reaches out to women in need and supports mothers before and after childbirth.  We are collecting items to aid in the center’s efforts.  The most pressing needs at this time are baby bottles for newborns with 0+ (slow flow) nipples.  They are also in need of new or slightly used onesies and one piece sleepers in sizes newborn to 0-3 months.  Donated items can be placed in the wooden collection bins found under the large crucifix in the narthex.  Please call Kathy at 667-3173 with any questions.

Sparks of Hope is a comfortable place in the Southtowns where people recovering from addiction can drop in for support, fellowship and  spiritual guidance.  It provides individuals and family members friendship and resources as they seek to maintain recovery from addiction.  Coaches are available to help.
The center is located at 107 Main Street in the Village of Hamburg (Hamburg United Methodist Church).  The center serves people of all faith communities.

Whereas all faiths have people in their congregation affected by this drug epidemic, it seems fitting that we pool our efforts. Volunteers are needed, both recovery-trained volunteers and volunteers to man the center.  Also needed are basic food/snack items, coffee, tea, water, etc.

If you can help or would like more information, please call Melissa at 662-9339 ext 145, or email her at
